France Kick-Off Euro 2024 Campaign in Style

Mbappé Leads the Way with a Brace

Kylian Mbappé made a memorable debut as France captain, scoring twice as the World Cup finalists kicked off their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign with a comfortable 4-0 win over the Netherlands on Friday.

The Paris Saint-Germain forward netted a penalty in the 14th minute and doubled his tally with a superb solo effort in the 32nd minute. Olivier Giroud added another goal before the break, while Antoine Griezmann sealed the victory with a late strike.

France dominated the match from start to finish, creating several chances and controlling possession throughout. Mbappé was at the heart of everything, using his pace and skill to torment the Dutch defense.

The 24-year-old's goals were his first as France captain, a role he took over from Hugo Lloris earlier this year. He has now scored 34 goals in 66 appearances for his country.

France's victory puts them top of Group B after the opening round of matches. They will face the Netherlands again in the reverse fixture on March 27, 2024.
