Panama's Luis Henriques Scored the Game-Winning Goal in the 85th Minute
In a dramatic Group C match at the 2024 Copa America, Panama came from behind to defeat the United States 2-1 on Monday night. The USMNT had taken the lead in the opening minutes of the game, but Panama rallied with two goals in the second half to secure the victory.
The United States took the lead in the 5th minute when Weston McKennie scored on a header from a cross by Sergiño Dest. However, Panama equalized in the 65th minute when Cecilio Waterman scored on a rebound after a shot by Ismael Díaz was saved by Matt Turner.
Panama then completed the comeback in the 85th minute when Luis Henriques scored the game-winning goal. Henriques received a pass from Waterman and fired a shot into the bottom corner of the net.
The victory was Panama's first of the 2024 Copa America. The team will now face Bolivia in its final Group C match on Wednesday, while the United States will face Paraguay.
