Chile's Winter Time Change for 2024 Announced
Clocks to be Set Back One Hour on April 6th
Adjustments to Begin at 11:59 PM
The Chilean government has announced that the 2024 winter time change will take place on Saturday, April 6th. During this change, clocks throughout most of Chile will be set back one hour at 11:59 PM.
In accordance with Decree 224, the change will return Chile to its standard time zone of UTC-4. This will apply to all regions of the country except for Magallanes.
The adjustment is intended to provide additional daylight hours during the evening by moving the active hours of the day forward one hour. This change is typically made in the fall and spring to optimize the use of natural light.
While the time change can be disruptive for some, it is designed to maximize sunlight exposure and conserve energy during the winter months.
